Dear Angie
This is a guest post that I have left here for you…
Welcome back to your own blog, it’s missed you

Are You Your Blog?

Have you ever visited a blog and have not a frickin’ clue what is going on? You visit the blog and look around, read a few posts, the about page yet you still can’t figure out its identity. What is that blog supposed to be about? Is it written by a real person? Is there a general theme to the posts? No? Then that blog is wandering the ether like the Mary Celeste wanders the seas…

Some helpful things that help you establish your blog’s identity…

Taglines – Change them until you are consistent with your blog’s material, if in doubt narrow it down. Too broad can mean lack of depth. Go deeper and educate your readers, they’ll thank you for it

Transparency – Be transparent; show your successes and mistakes. Why? Because it builds trust. When people know you and trust you they will share back with you in comments and in Facebook Likes and tweets. They day you get 10 likes will be joyful, the day you get 100 you’ll do a victory lap around your work’s car park… really, you will.

Over-delivery (yeah I had to get a transport reference in the post somewhere) – You do this offline, you delight people with your help, your blog should reflect that too. Be ultra helpful, give more than you receive. People do notice. It makes a difference – trust me on that one

In conclusion before you kick my ass for blog-jacking your blog (no, it’s a guest post honestly…) remember be yourself on your blog, and you will grab readers and make new friends. You’ll grow to love blogging just as much as I do and let’s face it, it’s fun and it’s not taxed. Yet…

Sarah

Sarah Arrow and Angie Wellington have been friends since they were little girls. They grew older but not taller, much to their annoyance. Now they are Essex girl bloggers, much to the annoyance of the rest of the world.
